Afghanistan outplayed South Africa by seven wickets in the opening match of ICC Under-19 World Cup 2020 at Kimberly.

Earlier, batting first host South Africa under-19 were bowled out for just 129 runs in 29.1 overs.

Skipper Bryce Parsons remained top scorer with 40 while Gerald Coetzee made 38 runs. Luke Beaufort added 25 runs.

For Afghanistan, Shafiqullah Ghafari bagged six wickets after giving just 15 runs. Fazal Haque and Noor Ahmad took two wickets each.

In reply Afghanistan under-19 achieved the 130-run target for the loss of three wickets in 25 overs.

Ibrahim Zadran and Imran scored half centuries. Imran made 57 runs with the help of 10 fours. Ibrahim added 52 runs.

For South Africa Achille Cloete took two wickets.

16 teams are taking part in the tournament which are divided into four groups.

Pakistan is placed in group C along with Scotland, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh.

The final of the tournament will be played on 9th of next month.
