Saudi Arabia said that Mosques would no longer be open for daily prayers or Friday congregations, an exceptional move to limit the spread of the Coronavirus which has infected 171 people in the Kingdom.

According to Saudi Arabia’s State News Agency SPA citing the top clerical body, prayers will continue only at Masjid Al Haram and Masjid i Nabawi.

Mosque doors will close and the azan will direct people to pray at home.

Saudi Arabia has taken drastic steps to try and slow down the spread of the virus, including suspending the Umrah pilgrimage, halting international flights, and closing schools and most public establishments.
