Fierce fighting took place around the Northwestern Syrian province of Idlib, the last stronghold of the rebels groups, as government forces continued to make advances to the north of the region.

The Syrian Arab Army was advancing its offense to retake Maarrat Al-Numan after seizing the strategic Northern Town of Khan Sheikoun but encountered fierce resistance from the rebels that strengthened their attacks and deployed snipers in an attempt to fight back.

Gun shots were frequently heard at the frontline Tuesday and bombs blew up every several seconds when the battle was in its fiercest period of time.
