Turkey today summoned the US Ambassador to Ankara over a resolution passed by the us house of representatives officially recognizing the killings in Armenia a century ago as “Genocide”.

The democratic-controlled house on Tuesday voted 405-11 in favor of as resolution, which asserts that it is U.S. Policy to commemorate as genocide the killing of 1.5 million Armenians by from 1915 to 1923.

Turkey strongly denies the accusation of genocide and says that both Armenians and Turks died as a result of world war-one. It puts the death toll in the hundreds of thousands.
