U.S.State Department Spokeswoman Morgan Ortagus

The United States says it is closely following events in Kashmir after India revoked the region’s special autonomy, sparking fears of fresh violence in the Occupied Kashmir.

U.S. State Department Spokeswoman Morgan Ortagus said in a statement we are concerned about reports of detentions and urge respect for individual rights and discussion with those in affected communities.

Ortagus called on all parties to maintain peace and stability along the line of control.

On the other side US Acting Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asia Alice G. Wells arrives in Islamabad.

She is expected to discuss Kashmir situation following Indian move on the occupied territory.

The US envoy will also discuss afghan reconciliation.
