On Monday 27 May, Prime Minister Stefan Löfven will receive Vietnam’s Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc in Stockholm.

Vietnam’s Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc is visiting Sweden to mark 50 years of diplomatic relations between Sweden and Vietnam. The delegation led by Prime Minister Phuc includes political representatives and representatives of the Vietnamese business sector.

Discussions will focus on bilateral cooperation between Sweden and Vietnam. There is great potential to further develop these relations. Vietnam’s rapid economic development, major investment needs and strategic location in South-East Asia mean that trade and investment have become key elements of the relations. There are good prospects of further deepening the commercial exchange between the countries when the free trade agreement between the EU and Vietnam enters into force. Cooperation in multilateral forums will be discussed, including free trade, the rules-based international order and the 2030 Agenda. Issues concerning working conditions, gender equality and human rights will also be discussed.

During his visit to Sweden, Prime Minister Phuc will attend the Sweden-Vietnam Business Forum, together with Prime Minister Löfven, and also visit companies in Södertälje, Märsta and Kista. Prime Minister Phuc will have an audience with HM The King and meet the Speaker of the Riksdag in connection with a lunch at the Riksdag.
