Prime Minister Imran Khan said, Pakistan takes pride in its exemplary relations with Turkey and said the efforts are underway to take this relationship to newer heights.
The Premier expressed these views during is brief meeting with Governor Konya Junaid Orhan Toprak on his arrival.
Deputy Mayor Konya Mithat Buyukalim, Ambassador of Pakistan Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi, Garrison Commander and Senior Turkish Officials were also present at the Konya Airport.
To pay homage to the great Sufi Saint of the Muslim World, the Prime Minister and his delegation visited the Mausoleum of Maulana Jalal Uddin Rumi.
He also visited the symbolic grave of Allama Muhammad Iqbal located in Maulana Rumi’s Graveyard. The Prime Minister also mixed with the local people.
The Prime Minister said, the People of Pakistan have great love for the People of Konya and hold Maulana Jalaluddin Rumi in great reverence.
The Premier stated that the spiritual message of Maulana Rumi served to unite humanity from all religions and all walks of life.
The Prime Minister said, the National poet of Pakistan Allama Muhammad Iqbal was the spiritual disciple of Maulana Rumi.
He highlighted that Iqbal’s Philosophy was inspired by Rumi’s message of Love and self-individuation.
The Prime Minister is in Turkey on a two-day official visit at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Prime Minister is also scheduled to address leading Turkish Businessmen at an event organized by the Union of Chambers and commodity exchanges of Turkey in Ankara.
