Malik Amin Aslam Khan Advisor to Prime Minister On Climate Change  resident of Shamsabad (a village almost 18km away from district headquarters) , has two decades of experience as climate change  expert and has served as the Global Vice President of  environment organisation IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature ) and UNDP. He has an MSc degree  from Oxford University in Environmental Management and Finance.

He has been the Chairman of KP Green Growth Initiative and the main architect of Billion Tree Tsunami Afforestation Project. He has also been member of parliament from 2002 to 2007 and State Minister for Environment from 2004 to 2007. Amin Aslam’s elevation to the designation of Adviser Climate Change has been lauded widely .Experts have welcomed the decision of the Prime Minister Imran Khan. This is an ample proof of the resolve of the Prime Minister , towards resolving environmental issues in a country worst hit by climate change and facing deforestation , depletion of fresh water , lack of waste management and other issues. Amin Aslam is former Chairman KP GOVT Green Growth Initiative and is widely recognised because of his knowledge and understanding about climate change issues.

An expert said , the appointment as well 100 days plan of PTI that focuses on water , raised hopes for the future of Agriculture and control of deforestation. More than environmental policies , we require action and  implementation and Amin Aslam is surely a man of action,  which is evident from the successful completion of Billion Tree Tsunami project that received worldly recognition.  Malik Amin who is with back ground in environment and experts see Amin Aslam as a champion of climate policy and are hopeful for positive changes under his leadership. He is one of the most knowledgeable person and highly suitable appointment  being the architect of Billion Tree tsunami.

He should be given free hand and provided with the resources and support to handle the  climate change related problems . Another expert said, Amin Aslam faces an uphill task . His exposure as  climate change expert at international level , will prove fruitful in delivering  the policies which Pakistan needs badly . WWF has also lauded Khan ‘s pledge to tackle environment issues in his first address to the nation.

Organisations are ready to extend help . Mr Aslam has vowed to boost Pakistan climate security by increasing the country tree cover , water conservation , expand KP Tree Program to all provinces and regions . He said , Imran Khan is highly committed to taking on environmental issues including air pollution,  climate change and increasing the country’s water conservation and storage , biodiversity and  loss of unlawful wild life .
