Pakistan Attock. Health department Attock , on the recommendations of an inquiry committee has suspended a doctor and two nurses for their negligence which resulted in the death of a patient. As per details a patient Azam Khan r/o village Khura Khel was brought to Asfandyar District Hospital Attock with severe chest pain .
Dr Farrukh , Staff Nurse Tahira Yasmeen and Naureen Bibi were on duty but failed to provide emergency treatment to the patient in spite of his critical condition which resulted in death of the patient .
On the orders of DC Attock , an inquiry committee consisting of Additional Deputy Commissioner (F&P) , CEO Health Attock, AC Attock and a member of the hospital conducted in detail inquiry and found that ECG machine was not charged showing the negligence of the the nurses in duty , which they admitted during the inquiry , there was no coordination between the doctor and nurses which resulted in failing to provide timely treatment to the patient thus a precious life was lost. As per the inquiry report neither the doctor nor the two nurses are trained to work in a hospital, and failed to provide treatment to the patient which resulted in his death.
This attitude of the doctor and nurses also damaged the image of the health department . The committee found the doctor and nurses guilty of misconduct, poor performance and negligence. All have been suspended and their case has been forwarded to Secretary Health Punjab for further proceedings and disciplinary action.
The committee also recommended that two ECG machines must be available in the emergency department , one nurse must be deputed only for conducting ECG of the patients and one senior doctor must be available round the clock in the hospital to handle emergencies.
