Sikh Pilgrims from India are scheduled to arrive at Gurdwara Punja Sahib in Hassanabdal on June 8 to perform rituals in connection with the 412 th death anniversary of Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the fifth of the eleven Sikh gurus. According to Sikhism, the event is also called Shaheedi Jor Mela or Shaheedi Purab of Guru Arjan Dev Ji. Talking to media, Deputy Secretary of Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) Syed Faraz Abbass said that Indian pilgrims would arrive on June 8 on a ten-day pilgrimage through Wagha border and reach Hassanabdal the same day through a special train.
He said soon after their arrival, the pilgrims will offer their religious rites including Matha Taek (bowing) and Ashnan (holy bath). Later, they will also visit the shrine of Baba Wali Kandhari located on a hilltop. Mr Faraz said the pilgrims will be provided improved facilities and accommodation at the gurdwara and said that the pilgrims will also visit Gurdwara Dera Sahib in Lahore, where the main event of the anniversary will be held besides paying homage at other religious places. He said after performing rituals, Indain Sikh pilgrims would proceed to Gurdwara Janam Asthan, Nankana Sahib on June 10 while they would visit to Gurdwara Sacha Soda Farooqabad on June 12. He added that pilgrims would visit Gurdawra Darbar Sahib Kartarpura Norowal, Gurdawra Rohri Sahib Emanabad on June 15, He said that main ceremony of Bhog and observance of martyrdom day would be observed in Gurdwara Dera Sahib Lahore on June 16 while Indian Sikh pilgrims will return on June 17.
