The United Nations has turned down Pakistan’s request to ban Umar Khalid Khurasani, the chief of internationally recognized terrorist outfit, Jamaat ul Ahrar.

According to diplomatic sources, Khurasani has been involved in various terrorist attacks inside Pakistan. Pakistan for the first time requested to ban Khurasani in the U.N. Security council on 6th July 2017.

The diplomatic sources informed that Jamaat ul Ahrar is already on the list of international terrorist organizations but refusal to ban its chief is a great surprise.
Pakistan’s proposal to ban Khurasani was rejected on 4th may 2018.

The diplomatic circles close to the development urged the international community to decide on such sensitive matters purely on merit by setting aside politics and dual standards.

Pakistan has resolved to pursue the matter second time at the U.N. Under resolution 1267. The Foreign Office spokesperson also expressed despair over the UN decision.
