Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said his government wants to open talks with the Taliban to recognize it as a political entity.

According to the Afghan media, while opening the second Kabul process meeting in Kabul, Ghani said the peace process, and a ceasefire must be agreed upon with the Taliban.

He said his government can also work on the list of freeing Taliban prisoners.
Ghani told Taliban that peace is in their hands. He called on the group to accept the offer and join the peace process for the good of the war-ravaged country.

Ghani also announced the afghan government will provide passports to Taliban members and their families and will issue visas, open an office for them – even in Kabul – and will also work to remove sanctions against Taliban leaders.

He also called on Pakistan to hold talks government to government and said Kabul is ready to start talks with Pakistan to start a new chapter.
