The World’s second oldest amusement park was lit up to celebrate its 175th anniversary.

The Tivoli garden in Copenhagen is marking the special birthday with a gigantic winter lights festival destined to brighten up the winter gloom.

Among the highlights of the festival are a colossal Greenland igloo, an icy forest and an octagonal ice-skating pavilion with 200,000 lights.

Lights and colours are particularly important for the people of Copenhagen in the long winter months when daylight hours start after 8 a.m. And darkness falls before 5 p.m.

Tivoli has traditionally used old yellow-toned light bulbs in its displays.
