President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi have said that the dream of peace and prosperity in the region will remain elusive without resolving the Kashmir dispute.

In their separate messages on Kashmir solidarity day, they called upon the international community to urge India to respect the human rights charter, put an immediate end to gross human rights violations in the occupied Kashmir.

They said Pakistan reiterates its unwavering political, moral and diplomatic support to the people of occupied Kashmir in their struggle for self-determination right in accordance with UN resolutions.They said the resolution of Kashmir dispute is essential for regional peace and development.

Kashmir solidarity day is being observed today to express solidarity and whole-hearted support of the Pakistani nation to the just struggle of Kashmiri people for their inalienable right of self-determination under UN resolutions.

President Mamnoon Hussain will host the main ceremony of the Kashmir solidarity day in Islamabad. He will address the ceremony that will be a reflection of the national unity to express solidarity with the Kashmiri brethren.

Besides the leadership of the Hurriyat conference, prominent political and social figures as well as the intellectuals would address the ceremony that would be covered live by national media.Different documentaries encompassing the decades-old Kashmir struggle would also be shown.

Public rallies, walks and seminars is being held in order to draw world attention towards the plight of oppressed Kashmiri people.Food is being distributed among the Kashmiri refugees in their camps at Muzaffarabd, Bagh, Kotli and Mirpur in connection with the Kashmir solidarity day.Human chains at Kohala bridge, Mangla bridge and other points linking Pakistan and Azad Kashmir will be formed.

Rallies, public meetings, functions and seminars are being held in the length and breadth of the country and Azad Kashmir to draw attention of the world community towards the plight of Kashmiris. One minute silence will be observed at 10:00 a.m. To pay homage to the martyrs of the liberation struggle of occupied Kashmir.
