Turkey rescued some 161 migrants trying to reach Greek islands in the past week.
Footage released by the Turkish coast guard showed two separate rescue operations at sea off the coast of the towns of Foca and Menderes.

According to Turkish authorities, rescue services rescued 49 migrants off the coast of Menderes, 41 migrants off the coast of Foca and 71 off the coast of Dikili.

Arrivals of refugees and migrants to Greece have dropped since 2016, when turkey agreed to stop illegal migrants from crossing into Greece in exchange for financial aid for those in its care, the promise of visa-free travel for its citizens to much of the EU, and accelerated EU membership talks.
