Police in Hanover used Water Cannons to disperse Protesters from the streets as they tried to block streets near the Congress Centre, where the Anti-Immigration Party ‘Alternative for Germany’ stages their Party Congress over the weekend.

Due to the disruptions outside the Congress Venue, the Party Meeting opened an hour delayed with A.F.D Spokesperson Joerg Meuthen holding the opening speech.

The A.F.D won 12.6 percent of the vote in Germany’s General Election in September, becoming the third-largest Group in Parliament and the first from the far-right to win seats in the bundestag since the 1950s.
