U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Field Operations (OFO) at the Hidalgo International Bridge arrest a female United States citizen from Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico after discovering 2.56 pounds of alleged cocaine concealed on her body.
“Smugglers will go through extreme measures to attempt to introduce illegal narcotics into our country,” said Interim Port Director Donna Sifford, Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry.
On Nov. 13, CBP officers at Hidalgo International Bridge encountered a 23-year-old woman as she attempted to enter the United States as a pedestrian. After referring her for further inspection, officers discovered one package containing alleged cocaine concealed on her body. The narcotics have an estimated street value of $19,720.
CBP OFO seized the narcotics and arrested the woman, who was then turned over to the custody of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents for further investigation.
