The Ministry of Attorney General appreciates the work done by the Auditor General in the review of the 2006 contract selection process for Family Maintenance Enforcement Program services.

The ministry is committed to improving the selection process for the program and takes the recommendations to improve contracting and the related management process seriously. Some recommendations have been implemented already.

“The services of the Family Maintenance Enforcement Program in the ministry have helped more than 142,000 families since 1988 and collected more than $3.6 billion for B.C. children and families,” said Attorney General David Eby. “We will ensure that the recommendations from the Office of the Auditor General are fully implemented.”

The recommendations for the ministry concerned use of outside procurement contractor specialists, the involvement of chief financial officers involved in contracts and review of non-standard contracts by legal counsel.
