U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers assigned to work at the Lincoln Juarez International Bridge seized a noteworthy amount of alleged crystal methamphetamine in one enforcement action.
“I commend our officers for their hard work, dedication and commitment to our mission” said (A) Port Director Alberto Flores, Laredo Port of Entry. “Their attention to detail and identifying several inconsistencies resulted in this significant seizure.”
The seizure occurred on Wednesday, June 14, when a CBP officer noticed several discrepancies on several bags of candy. A canine and physical inspection of the candy bags by CBP officers resulted in the discovery of 712 packages allegedly containing 19 pounds of crystal methamphetamine. The crystal methamphetamine carries an estimated street value of $370,372.
CBP officers seized the narcotics. The case was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
