Polish Rider Rafal Majka narrowly outsprinted New Zealander George Bennett to claim the stage two win while Latvia’s Toms Skujins crashed heavily during a descent at the tour of California.

Bora-Hansgrohe rider Majka finished the hilly 89.5 mile stage in 3 hours, 43 minutes and 46 seconds and took the overall lead by two seconds over Lottonl-Jumbo’s Bennett. American team sky rider Ian Boswell was third across the stage two finish line to claim third in the overall standings.

Skujins was among a group of several Riders leading the stage when he crashed heavily during a descent. The Cannondale Rider then fell over trying to get back on his bike and was almost hit by several Riders coming downhill.

Skujins managed to going again but was pulled from the race by his Cannondale team, who tweeted afterwards that he suffered a concussion and broken collarbone in the fall.
