In New York, thousands Sikhs held protest demonstration to reaffirm their demand for a sovereign Sikh State in India.

Wearing orange colored turbans and carrying Khalistan banners, protestors demanded for an end to the Indian occupation of Punjab.

Speaking on the occasion, coordinator of Sikh Gurdev Singh Kang said that after the destruction of the Golden Temple in 1984 and genocide violence against the Sikh community, the only choice left to the Sikhs is to have their own independent country.
