Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said opposition should shun politics of allegations and should not create hurdles in development and progress of the country.

He said this while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Bhikki power plant in Sheikhupura.

The Prime Minister said a new chapter is being added to the history of Pakistan by completing Bhikhi power plant.

He said 717 megawatt to the national grid that will lessen the woes of the people facing long hours of load shedding.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif termed the completion of the gas power plant in 18 months a record and said owing to the transparent bidding the government saved a huge amount of 50 billion rupees.

He said the plant would provide power at the cheapest rate of 7.37 rupees per unit.

He was informed that the plant would also have record efficiency of 61.59 per cent as compared to other power generation plants in the country.

He said over 10,000 mega watt electricity to be added to national grid by June 2018.

He said almost the same amount of electricity added to system in past 3 years which was produced in last 70 years.

He said strict action to be taken against those responsible for load shedding despite surplus electricity.

He said, progress is being made in every sector and segment of society.

Speaking about Lahore-Multan motorway the Prime Minister said this project will be completed by 2018.

Earlier the Prime Minister was briefed about the salient features of the project.

He was taken around the control room of the plant and was informed about its highly efficient environment-friendly operations.

The Prime Minister was told that the plant would save 250 billion rupees in operational cost alone in next 30 years.

The Bhikki power plant, a key project of the Punjab government, upon completion would provide a total of 1180 mega watt.
