Afghanistan’s President Ashraf Ghani is welcomed by Australia’s Governor-General Peter Cosgrove in Canberra Today for a visit aimed at strengthening Security Ties.

Ghani – the first Afghan leader to visit Australia – will meet with his Australian Counterpart Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull later in the day for talks expected to focus on security, development and empowering women.

Australia, a firm U.S. Ally in its wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, has some 300 Defence Industry Personnel in kabul supporting the NATO-led Force aiding the Afghan Government.

Australia said late last year it would keep Troops in Afghanistan until at least 2020 and it also committed to more Financial Aid.
