A Wildfire near the University of Colorado in boulder burned through about 62 acres of Woodland, prompting authorities to urge at least 1,000 people to evacuate the drought-hit region.

The fire in sunshine Canyon, just outside the University Town, started before dawn on Sunday and is about 20 percent contained, with no injuries or damage to structures reported.

The fire was fanned by winds that could gust to over 50 kilometers per hour during the afternoon, with temperatures expected to be near 27 celsius.
