A lighting ceremony was held at the London Eye Ferris Wheel to welcome in the Chinese New Year, which falls on Jan 28 this year. As the Chinese New Year, also known as spring festival, has a special meaning to the Chinese people. Representatives from the London Chinatown Chinese Association, Chinese Embassy to the UK and visit London pressed the activation button together to light the display.

With the lights turned on, spectators saw traditional dragon and lion dances as well as other lively performances under the London Eye. A series of activities will be held to celebrate the spring festival by the London Chinatown Chinese Association, with more than 1,000 performers and volunteers working together.
