The first Snowboard Halfpipe World Cup event of the season saw Switzerland’s Patrick Burgener and USA’S Chloe Kim take victories at Colorado’s copper mountain.

Burgener was trailing his compatriot Iouri Podladtchikov after two runs – his rival having scored a 96.00 and Burgener’s best was 88.50.

So Burgener pulled out all the stops on his final run performing a frontside 1080, to cab 1080 double cork, frontside 900, backside 360 and the first ever switch backside double to finish.

Even so, he only just beat Podladtchikov by 0.25 points, with 96.25.

Meanwhile double Gold medallist in the 2016 Youth Olympic winter games, Chloe Kim of the United States got victory in Women’s Event.

Chloe Kim beat Chinese Liu Jiayu and reigning World Champion Cai Xuetong into second and third place.

Kim won with a score of 95.50 to liu’s 91.00
