Population census will be held in the country from 15 March next year.

It was decided in the meeting of Council of Common Interest chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad.

It was decided during the meeting that Population and house count will be carried out simultaneously in all the Provinces, possibly in two phases.

A Special Committee consisting of Secretary Statistics and Chief Secretaries of all Provinces will be formed which will address implementation issues.

The entire exercise of census will be carried out in coordination with the provinces.

CCI Meeting also ratified payment of net Hydel profit to the Punjab Government.

38.12 billions will be settled by issuing irrevocable promissory notes of one year duration.

While 44.59 billion will be paid in three installments after tariff determination.

The meeting referred the matter of setting up National Security fund to National Finance Commission.

The meeting also approved national forest policy and directed the Minister of Climate change to coordinate with Provincial Governments in this regard.

The policy will ensure compliance of International conventions.

Chief Ministers of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa attended the meeting.
