A Turkish fighter jet on a training mission crashed before landing near an airport in the southeastern city of Diyarbakir. Turk military official said, the pilot ejected and was unharmed. The cause of the crash was not immediately known and an investigation was launched. Security sources said the plane crashed in an empty field and there were no casualties. Helicopters were scanning the area for any unexploded ordnance 3-4 kilometres away from the airport where the jet crashed. Commercial flights to Diyarbakir’s civilian airport, adjacent to the military base, were rerouted to nearby airports.
