LAHORE.The veterans,seniors and ladies events of the All Pakistan Quaid e Azam golf championship concluded here on Friday at the Lahore Gymkhana Golf Course.

In the race for honors and success in Seniors section Tariq Mehmood of
Garrison Golf Club demonstrated his golfing ability and emerged as the gross winner of the Seniors section. In the stroke play competition contested over 18 holes ,he exhibited the hitting power which one normally associates with younger champion amateurs ,however while striving for honors in the Quaid e Azam Golf Event ,he was at his best and this is reflected by his card of gross 76,over 18 holes.

The other superior one in the seniors category was Col Asif Mehdi of
Defence Raya Golf Club who managed his game equitably well and compiled a score of gross 76 which is the same score as achieved by the winner Tariq Mehmood ,but Tariq won the top position as he had a better score on the back nine. Other performers in the gross section were Col Waqar Ahmed with a score of gross 78,and Javed A.Khan ended the 18 holes at a score of gross 80.

Those competitors who did well in the net section are Asad Hameed and
Waqar Ahmed .A few more who played well are ,A Wajid Sethi , Gen Mohammed Tahir and Salman Aslam.Asad Hameed dominated the net section proceedings over 18 holes and his command over his shot making was exemplary.Not a single tee shot went wayward and he ended the competition with a score of net 69,three under par.The runner up in the net category is Waqar Ahmed.In this category too like in gross, two contenders, Asad and Waqar had a similar score of net 69 but the victor was Asad as a result of his better score over the last nine holes.

Amongst the ladies, the former champion of yester years ,Shazadi Gulfam played determined golf to regain her champion like status. Her golf swing has started to look rhythmic again and accurate shot making helped her to capture the gross first prize.Her score for 18 holes was gross 88.Tehmina Rashid came second in gross.

Winner net was Shahnaz Moeen and Rabia Tiwana came second.Najam Hafeez of CNS and Schneider Electric ,the sponsors of this championship was forthright in complimenting the performance of Shahzadi Gulfam.

A total of 104 amateurs will tee tomorrow, Saturday morning to show their playing might and skills.The participating golfers with a handicap of four and below are Zunair Aleem Khan,Mohsen Zafar,Robin Bagh,Taimur Shabbir,Wazir Ali,Nadeem Aslam,Ahmed Baig and Mohammad Saqib.They promise to play quality golf and hope to excel and dominate the competition through scores that are under par.
