ISLAMABAD: Deputy Speaker National Assembly Murtaza Javed Abbasi Tuesday referred the private member bill [The Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues (Amendment) Bill, 2016] to Standing Committee on National Health Regulation for detailed deliberation.

Kishwer Zehra sought the permission of the Chair to move the bill further to amend the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act, 2010 in the House as reported by the Standing Committee.

She was of the view that Standing Committee on Capital Administration and Development Division had already cleared the bill after detailed deliberation and it should be adopted.

She said it would not only end illegal organ transplantation business but also help save lives.

Dr Fehmida Mirza said it was a very flexible amendment and it would totally depend on will of the donor.

State Minister for National Health Services and Regulation Siara Afzal Tarar said she has no objection over the bill. However, earlier it was discussed in the CADD committee and around seven days it has transferred to Health Services and time should be given to examine the bill.

The National Assembly also rejected “The Law Reforms (Amendment) Bill, 2015” moved by Muhammad Ayaz Soomro.

Law Minister Zahid Hamid said this amendment could only be done through constitutional amendment adding the government had already introduced 24th constitutional amendment bill in the House.

Meanwhile, the House deferred “The Publication of the Holy Quran (Elimination of Printing and Recording Errors) (Amendment) Bill, 2015].
State Minister for Religious Affairs Pir Aminul Hasnat it was very important bill and all stakeholders were being taken on board in this regard.
