PESHAWAR: Northern Sports and University of Peshawar
advanced to next round after securing victories against their respective rivals in the ongoing Choice International Twenty20 Cricket Tournament being played here at Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
In the first match, Northern Sports defeated PTI club by seven wickets.
Northern Sports skipper won the toss and invited PTI club to bat first. PTI while batting scored only 82 runs all out after playing 18.3 overs. Usman made 26 runs with three boundaries and was the only highest runs contributor, none of the batsmen could stand in front of excellent bowling by Northern Sports. For Northern Sports Sajid Afridi bowl well and grabbed four wickets for just four runs in as many overs. Muhammad Kamal was the other successful bowler who got three wickets for 14 runs in his four overs spell.
In reply, Northern Sports chased the target for the loss of three
wickets after playing 16.3 overs. Sajid Afridi along with his bowling, scored 36 runs with three boundaries. For PTI club Kardish got two wickets.
In the second match University of Peshawar beat Falcon club by eight
wickets. Falcon club won the toss and decided to bat first by setting up 130 runs wherein Haroon made 22 runs, Ihtizat Ahmad scored 26 runs For University of Peshawar Iftikhar grabbed three wickets, Waqar and Mehmood took two wickets each.
In reply, UoP chased the target for the loss of two wickets with opener
Amjad smashed a cracking 72 runs unbeaten knock including seven boundaries and two sixes. For Falcon Haroon took two wickets. The tournament is being played on league system and top 16 teams are taking part.
