Jammu Martyrs Day was observed on both sides of Line of Control on Sunday to pay homage to the martyred.

Hundreds of thousands of Kashmiris were killed by the forces of Maharaja Hari Singh, Indian Army and Hindu extremists in different parts of Jammu region in November 1947 when they were migrating to Pakistan.

Jammu martyrs day was also observed today in Pakistan to commemorate the massacre of Muslims in Jammu on 6th November 1947.

The day dawned with special prayers for solidarity, integrity and prosperity of Pakistan and early liberation of occupied Kashmir from Indian clutches.

In the state capital Muzaffarabad, a function was held at central Press club under the aegis of Kashmir Liberation Cell.

Speaking on the occasion, leaders and representatives of various political parties and social organizations paid glowing tributes to the martyrs of Jammu and Kashmir.

They said by waving Pakistani flags in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Kashmiris have given a clear message to the world that they will never compromise on their principled stand for right to self determination.

Later, a protest rally was taken out from the central press club which culminated at Gharipan chowk.
